ATLANTA (AP) _ An Atlanta woman who robbed her boyfriend at gunpoint with her sister has been sentenced to more than a decade in prison, authorities said.
Jamya Ann Stokes was sentenced to 25 years in prison for a November 2018 motel robbery in Norcross, nearly 20 miles (32 kilometers) northeast of Atlanta. Stokes will serve the first 14 years behind bars, news outlets reported.
The robbery took place after Stokes, 20, allowed her sister to enter a motel room she shared with her boyfriend. The boyfriend told officials that Stokes' sister, Armauni Stokes, pointed a handgun at his head while Jamya Stokes stole his clothes and $6,000 in cash, Gwinnett Assistant District Attorney Michael Parrish said.
The man was able to escape the motel room and make his way to the lobby. Surveillance footage from the scene shows Armauni Stokes entering the motel room and both sisters running in pursuit of the boyfriend after his escape, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
Jamya Stokes was sentenced on charges including armed robbery and aggravated assault. Her sister is serving a 10 year sentence in state prison for armed robbery.
