SMH – AI-Driven Layoffs

by | May 27, 2025

Shaking my head in response to someone responding “We acted too quickly” with respect to downsizing as a result of AI implementation.

Step 1 – Jump on AI bandwagon

Step 2 – implement (pricey?) AI stuff hot off the presses

Step 3 – Layoffs = more $$$ for us!  Or more AI!

Step 4 – realize that (pricey?) AI didn’t actually effectively replace the employees

Step 5 – admit “oh well, sorry for the massive upheaval in my employees lives, but they are little people … and fungible”

I certainly admit this is the type of snarky post best left to Facebook or Bluesky or some other social media platform that I no longer use, but sometime I just have to scream.  Even if no lone is listening, or reading.

That “aha!” moment – a simple image

I finally committed to the "Plus" ($20 a month) version of ChatGPT and have been finding more and more things to use it for, and trying my best not to use it as lazy google.  Hum de dum and I'm looking at making an AI Policy for TQuist,  as well as provide information...
